Leslie Palato-Cisneros Counseling Intern - Healing Pathways Collective

Hello, my name is Leslie, and I am a Master’s level Counseling Intern at Healing

Pathways Collective in Centennial, Colorado. After spending more than 25 years in

Corporate America, I felt a profound calling to pursue work that was more deeply

connected to people, purpose, and community. While my corporate career provided

invaluable experiences and opportunities for growth, I discovered a passion for helping

others navigate life’s challenges and create meaningful change. This led me to return to

school and begin a new chapter focused on mental health and wellness.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology and am currently completing my Master’s

degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, working toward becoming a Licensed

Professional Counselor (LPC). Throughout my journey, I have gained experience

supporting individuals impacted by domestic violence, substance use disorders, and

members of the LGBTQ+ community. These experiences have reinforced my

commitment to creating a safe, affirming, and nonjudgmental environment where every

person feels heard, respected, and valued.

My counseling philosophy is grounded in the belief that every person possesses

inherent worth, resilience, and the capacity for growth. Life is a journey with many

twists, challenges, successes, and setbacks, and I believe healing can happen at any

stage of that journey. No matter where someone begins, it is never too late to make

positive changes, gain new insight, or move toward a more fulfilling life.

I take a person-centered, strengths-based approach to counseling that emphasizes

empathy, collaboration, and authenticity. I strive to meet clients where they are while

honoring their unique experiences, identities, values, and goals. I believe the

therapeutic relationship itself can be a powerful catalyst for healing, providing a space

where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment.

My work is also influenced by principles of Motivational Interviewing (MI) and

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Through Motivational Interviewing, I help clients

identify their own motivations, strengths, and readiness for change, recognizing that

lasting growth comes from within. Through CBT, I support clients in understanding the

connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, helping them challenge

unhelpful patterns and develop healthier coping strategies. By integrating these

approaches, I aim to empower clients to make meaningful changes while building

confidence in their ability to overcome obstacles.

As an aspiring LPC, my goal is to continue working with diverse populations and to

support individuals as they navigate life transitions, trauma, relationship concerns,

addiction recovery, identity exploration, and personal growth. I hope to provide

compassionate, evidence-based care that helps clients strengthen resilience, discover

their inner resources, and create lives that align with their values and aspirations.

I believe healing does not require perfection—it begins with the courage to take the first

step. It is a privilege to walk alongside individuals on their journeys, helping them

recognize their strengths, embrace their value, and find hope for the future.

“It is never too late to start with you. Healing begins where you are, and every

step forward is a testament to your strength, courage, and worth.”
